chinon 7500 AC transformer for Chinon Super 8mm projector
Does anyone know a source for the AC transformer that Chinon used in their Model 7500 Super 8mm Sound movie projectors.  I purchased it around 1978 and it is in absolutely mint condition.  However when I recently went to use it, the transformer burned up.  Quite a disappointment for me.   I tried a local electronics repair store but they were of no help. thanks,  Art

First you need to find out why; transformers don't normally burn out for no reason.   The transformers are normally relatively standard in these super 8 projectors; the main load being the lamp, so look at the lamp rating (voltage and current).  You'll need a transformer which a VA rating which is equal to the product of these (in volts and amps). E.g. for an 8V 6A lamp you need a 48VA 8V transformer; I'd go for one at about 60VA, because the voltage usually drops as you get too close to the limit.  These are readily available from companies such as RS (http://rswww.com I think).
