p4s5a manual trying to keep my voodoo5 but...
I am having a hard time finding motherboards that support the older 3.3v agp cards, specifically my Voodoo5. I want to up my cpu from my current p3-800, and am looking at the P4.   But I can't seem to find a P4 motherboard that still supports the Voodoo5. I then started to look at the Athlon-XP, but they all seem to use via chipsets (which has trouble with the Cougar Hotas), plus I still would like to use my current sdram (pc133) memory. I found a ECS P4S5A mobo, but they seem to have issues with the V5. I also found the Giga-byte GA-8SDX, but support for the 3.3v agp 2x cards is iffy, can't get a clear answer. I really don't want to go geforce4-ti4400, but I may have to??? thanks!!

the Geforce 4 Ti4600 and still probably be faster then the next still unnamed Nividia card. Here's a _link_ to some news about the ATI card: http://news.com.com/2100-1040-944317.html?tag=cd_mh -Tim Mr. G < This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it wrote in message I am having a hard time finding motherboards that support the older 3.3v agp cards, specifically my Voodoo5. I recently bought an Asus P4S533 Mobo and it's great.  Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it supports 3.3V AGP cards.  The manual says that it supports all 2X/4X AGP cards, but I remember reading a specific statement about 3.3V support somewhere. It's dirt-cheap, fast, with built-in LAN and sound (although I don't recommend the on-board sound with the current drivers...mine's been crash-prone using it, but stable with a SoundBlaster Live!). Lots of performance, stability, overclockability and other features, especially for the money.  I recommend it. Jon - I have a P4B266 (very pleased with it). Tried to keep a *clean* copy of Win98 for simming - but made sure it was all fully patched and drivers up to date. I installed the latest C-Media drivers and have had no trouble at all with the on-board sound. I've had an SBLive waiting in the wings, but am loth to install it as the system appears very stable at the moment - and I don't think the improvement in sound (if any) would be worth the risk. Adamski.
