Have a several yr old model Alpine radio in the truck. Had the need to disconnect the battery yesterday. After reconnecting the power I proceeded to reprogram the pushbuttons. Too my surprise I can't get this function to work. Every other thing is working on the radio. What I find is all the preset are set to various stations and they can't be changed. Upon restoring power I hit the reset button, power up the radio, stop the auto set-up which scans for local stations and assigns them to the buttons. What I expected was to see all the presets at a common station but what I find is all the presets are for different stations and can't be changed. ???? I can manually tune to a station, press and hold the preset button and hold it until the station display flashes and them release the button. No indication (there should be) of which button has been set and if I press the button I think I've just set, the radio tunes to the station that was present at power-up and now the indicator showing which button has been selected is displayed. Have removed power several times and even left power disconnected for an hr and no change. Buttons are still programmed and I can't change them. All I can think of something failed when power was fist disconnected and reconnected. I was also thinking the for the station memory to work, the radio had to have power to it constantly. If so, why are stations programmed to the buttons when power is restored? Oh, when I say disconnect power I mean pull the cable at the battery. Any ideas? Mickey

Have removed power several times and even left power disconnected for an hr and no change. Buttons are still programmed and I can't change them. Try leaving it disconnected for a day or two. It is possible that there is a capacitor that holds a charge to keep the memory during short power interruptions. It can take a day or two for that capacitor to run down and clear the memory. Another possibility is that there is a small battery in the radio used to keep the memory, and that battery is now dead. Check your instruction manual to see what it says. Finally, some decks for a master reset button that takes things back to factory settings. -john-

When setting a button, you press the button and hold then while the freq is _b_link__ing, you have to hit the button a second time. Wonder why the manual doesn't mention the second press??? Mickey

Manual may have been printed in China but appears to have been written here in the states. While Alpine is a respected Co, I could not believe they do not offer any on-line tech help. Mickey
