uss dickerson No SIDE BAND what am I missing?
I have the Sangean ATS-808, without sideband capability.  I was wondering just how much I am missing in the world of SW radio.  The 808 has continuous coverage from 150 kHz - 30 MHz. For those of you with SB, how much time do you spend using it relative to normal AM? Regards Scott. ___________________________________________________________________________ ____ Scott Fisher [ This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ]  PH: Aus [61] Perth (09) Local (380 3272).                                                                              _

For those of you with SB, how much time do you spend using it relative to normal AM? I usually listen to SW broadcast AM, especially pacific  and east euopean news. SSB is no use for that. However, once in a while If I'm home during the day (kids sick or whatever), just for funsies I monitor one or more military air frequencies. The traffic on these is always SSB, usually USB. But my SSB use is minimal compaired to AM.

| | For those of you with SB, how much time do you spend using it relative to | normal AM? | I almost never listen to AM. I usually scan thru Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy, and oceanic-crossing airliners. Once a week I might tune in BBC World Service. Air Force One, or other VIP traffic, is a nice catch occasionaly. If I'm not actually at the radio, I leave it tuned to the USCG SAR freqs. Search and Rescue is real-life drama that keeps me on the edge of my seat. Lee Johnson

For those of you with SB, how much time do you spend using it relative to normal AM?      Here's some of what you miss on SSB. All frequencies are in Khz., all times in UTC.
